What political accomplishments are you most proud of?

As Clerk, my main duties include all Township recordkeeping, voter services, and overseeing the election process. I am vigilant in conducting myself in a non-partisan manner, and my recordkeeping is transparent, accurate and timely. The minutes I prepare of the monthly Board of Trustees meetings are detailed, thoughtfully written and correctly reflect the business of each meeting. I have attended training on the Open Meetings Act and serve as the primary Township Freedom of Information Officer.

What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?

I was appointed as Clerk to fill a vacancy, and learned the job quickly, providing continuity to the Township office. In addition to my duties outlined by statute, I contribute to the efficient and effective administration of the Township, having trained to accept U.S. passport applications, assist with the food pantry and transportation program, and meet the varied needs of our residents.

Representing the Township at events such as Community Services Day and our Halloween Party for Children with Special Needs are other duties I’ve taken on since joining the Township staff. I’m proud of the work I’ve done, and look forward to continuing to serve my community.

What are the three most important issues facing the West Deerfield Township Clerk?

  1. Maintaining accurate and detailed Township records and filing all legal documents in a timely andprecise manner.
  2. Demonstrating balanced and consistent execution of my duties relating to all facetsof the election process.
  3. Helping to foster a welcoming, accessible atmosphere to all residents of West Deerfield Township, many of whom are facing social and economic challenges, so they may feel comfortable seeking the many services the Township offers.

How do you distinguish yourself from your opponent(s)?

My experience, professionalism and sincerity as Clerk, and my knowledge of and contributions to the overall efficiency of the Township, distinguish me as the candidate most qualified to continue in this role. I know the residents of West Deerfield Township, and am adept at providing the kind of service to our community which has made our Township one of the most respected and well-run in Lake County.
