Lake Cook Road Looks Wide Open

Most work complete more than a month ahead of schedule.

All lanes were open today on Lake Cook and Waukegan Roads through the construction zone today with most work apparently done more than 30 days ahead of the originally scheduled Oct. 26 deadline.

A notice on the project’s official website posted more than two weeks ago indicated only “minimal concrete work, landscape median plantings and seed placement” remained. That was apparent at the noon hour today when Patch found only one person working with no affect on traffic.

“Total completion of the entire project is on schedule to be achieved by September 26,” a statement on the website said. This will earn the contractor maximum bonus for completing the task 30 days ahead of schedule. There will still be some retaining wall done after Thursday but it will be off the roadway.
