Library Picks Temporary Site

Cadwell's Corners building to house library during year-long renovation.

A vacant Cadwell’s Corners building will become the while the current building undergoes a year-long $12 million renovation, according to a report from Library Board President Ken Abosch to the Village Board Monday.

The library will close in the middle of May, take approximately a month to move the collection and equipment and reopen at the Lake Cook and Waukegan Road facility in mid June, according to Abosch.

“We wanted it to be open when the kids are out of school,” Abosch said. “We wanted to spend as little as humanly possible for the space. We have signed a letter of intent and are negotiating the agreement. It’s starting to feel more real every day.”

Abosch expressed excitement over the project. “We will be in our new home by June, 2013,” he said. “We are excited about moving into a brand new building in a 40-year-old shell.

In other business, the Board unanimously granted a at 445 Pine Street on the condition owner Adam More make entrance and rest room accommodations for people with disabilities.

City to Sell Bonds

Deerfield Finance Director Robert Fialkowski told the Board the Village received bids on a $10 million bond issue Monday to finance the final phase of the water treatment plant.

“We received nine bids. The low bid (from First Tennessee Bank formally known as FIN Financial) for the 20 year bonds is 2.43 percent,” Fialkowski said. “Moody’s reaffirmed our AAA rating,” he added.
