Mayor Plants Tree for Arbor Day

Village urges residents to protect environment.

One Deerfield intersection has a new attraction. It’s not a restaurant or clothing store but instead something that could last much longer.

In honor of Arbor Day on Friday the village planted a Prairie Fire Crab Apple tree at the intersection of Wincanton and Dimmeydale Drive.

According to the Village Manager’s Office, Arbor Day first started in 1872 when J. Sterling proposed the idea that a day be set aside for the planting of trees to the Nebraska Board of Agriculture.
