New Healthy Food Restaurant Could Open Next Spring

A proposed 3,000-square-foot restaurant named Health O Wealth will feature wraps, salads, soups and smoothies.

Two local entrepreneurs are on the verge of being able to build a new “healthy food” restaurant in Deerfield.

At Monday night’s Village Board Meeting, trustees unanimously passed the first reading the proposal by Anil and Upasana Abbott to open up a new eatery at 780 Saunders Road. Final approval for the rezoning permit could come at the next scheduled board meeting on July 1, as the item has already been placed on the tentative agenda.

As Patch has previously reported, the Abbotts plan to open up a 3,000-square-foot restaurant (plus a 2,000-square-foot outdoor dining area) named Health O Wealth that will feature wraps, salads, soups and smoothies among other items for people looking to keep their waistlines under control.

“We did a survey of the neighborhoods. They like to eat healthy food,” Anil Abbott said.

Anil Abbott has managed a fast food restaurant in the past. The couple operate two local gas stations, including one at the intersection of Deerfield and Saunders Road.

The Abbotts are hoping to open in spring 2014, but that will depend on construction.

This project had drawn some opposition from the Thorngate Homeowners Association citing traffic concerns, but no objections were raised to the village board.

The home that is now on the property will be razed to make room for the eatery.
