Shamrock to Head Patty Turner Center

New director brings years of North Shore experience.

David Shamrock is the new director of the assuming the additional duties of adult programs supervisor for the Deerfield Park District, according to Director of Leisure Services Linda Anderson. 

Shamrock comes to Deerfield after working as director of program services for Chestnut Square at the Glen in Glenview, manager of resident services at Mather Place in Wilmette and director of therapeutic recreation at Brentwood North.

“David brings a diversified background of programming and building management experience to the district,” Anderson said in a news release.

Shamrock started his new duties at the end of December following the retirement of . Hunt retired after 25 years working for the Park District.

Working over the years with adults and seniors, Shamrock also has a degree in art. Describing his experience in the northern suburbs as “rewarding and exciting,” he hopes to create new and diverse programs. He also looks forward to getting to know patrons of the center.

Some of the programs under Shamrock’s guidance are cooking, yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, Zumba, Feldenkrais, dance, dog obedience, computer technology, Mah Jongg, bridge, canasta and a film discussion series.
