Township Honors Volunteers

Four individuals and two committees feted for their efforts.

Four individuals and members of two committees were singled out for their volunteer service to West Deerfield Township at the Township’s annual meeting Tuesday.

Among the individuals honored were Howard Bennin and Steve Bennin of Highland Park for their efforts at the West Deerfield Township Food Pantry. They work there on a regular basis helping those who come there to stock their own pantries.

“The Township really appreciates the continuing volunteer time and quality hours they give to have an impact on the lives of others in a positive way,” West Deerfield Township Supervisor Julie Morrison said.

Also recognized were Patty O’Machel of Deerfield for her work as a member of the Accessibility Committee and Christina Looby of Deerfield for building a composting bin as a Girl Scout project for the Township.

All members of the Accessibility Grant Committee and the Community Services Advisory Committee were honored. The Grant Committee members are Margie Fischer, Marla Davishoff, Kristen Scott, Jean Reuther, Susie Julison, O'Machel and Ron Schwartz.

Members of the Community Services Advisory Committee are Bob Franz, Kevin Tracz, Andy Hamilton, Amy Weiss, Rita Meintzer, Jeff Cantor, Chuck Caruso, Jeff Lazerow and Betty Korey.

“We’re fortunate to have so many dedicated residents of the Township who volunteer to make this a more caring place,” Morrison said.
