NEW INFO: Work Continues on Waukegan Road After Water Main Break

Traffic is still being impacted after a water main break on Waukegan Road Monday night.

Lanes are still reduced to one in each direction at Waukegan Road and Central Avenue after a water main break on Monday.

Crews worked through the evening to have water restored for residents by Tuesday morning.

Repaving continued Tuesday afternoon with arrow signals on Waukegan Road, notifying drivers about the lane changes.

"We're making progress," commented Barbara Little, director of public works and engineering. 

At 9 p.m. Monday night Little along with a crew of workers were breaking through concrete pavement to get to the eight inch water main underground.

Little predicted the work to last until midnight but said things should be back to normal by Tuesday.

A heads up to drivers about a water main break impacting Monday night's traffic.

The rupture happened at Waukegan Road and Central Avenue this afternoon. Crews are at the scene trying to repair the break right now. 

In the meantime, parts of Waukegan Road in downtown Deerfield have been reduced to one lane in each direction.

Crews say it could take several hours to repair the break.
