Village To Honor Longstanding Businesses

Deerfield to recognize 28 establishments which have been here under the same name for at least 20 years.

Twenty-Eight Deerfield businesses will be honored at an upcoming Board of Trustees meeting for having been a continuous presence in the Village center under the same name for at least 20 years.

The Village Center Development Commission wanted to find a way to recognize enterprises which have made a long term commitment to Deerfield’s central business district, according to Jennifer Maltas, assistant to Village Manager Kent Street. The specific date is not set.

The businesses are:

  • Merit Cleaners

If you are a customer of one of these establishments, feel free to click on their name to go to their Patch listing and write a review.

It is truly sad not to see Woodfire on the list. If only they could have held out a few more months. #savewoodfire

Good to honor most of these businesses. I believe Koenig and Strey closed up and left town for several years didn't they? I don't agree with honoring them when they have just been in business a year or so in their second small location after coming back. If you close up and then decide to come back, the clock should restart.

From their website: "Since 1988, Deerfield Marathon has provided motorists in the Deerfield, IL 60015 area with comprehensive auto repair services." It could be that the Village doesn't recognize this business because they changed from Amoco to Marathon, not the same continuous name, but it's been under the same ownership since 1988.

There is an error included with Workd Wide Liquors description.. As an FYI, they do have "tastings" from time to time.
