CAUTION: Senior Year Schedules Matter to Colleges
As high school schedules soon become reality, be careful in making any changes. Whether you want to add courses or rigor to appeal to colleges, make sure you don’t overdo it. Not getting your best possible grades in all your academic subjects can affect admission chances at some colleges and universities, much more than taking extra classes. Equal caution goes to dropping academic subjects.
Also make sure you take at least 4 core academics, (5 for highly selective schools), one of which is English and one, math. Check your colleges to insure you fulfill their academic requirements. The level of your course load should match previous semesters and depends on the colleges to which you are applying. Once you apply, your colleges should approve changes to your schedule. Remember: Common Application schools and many others require you send 7th semester grades. Keep in mind that all acceptances are provisional to sending a final transcript.
