Update: Warriors Earn 3 More State Tennis Points

Borzak- Fox doubles team and Lozovsky each pick up victories and will play again Friday.

(Update at 6:30 p.m.) Deerfield High School’s tennis team picked up three more points today in the State Meet in Buffalo Grove giving it eight for the tournament keeping it just out of the top 10.

Warrior doubles tandem Jenna Borzak and Jorie Fox were extended to three sets before winning their second round match against Andrea Goyao and Megan Conlin of Rosary High School in Aurora, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6.

In the round of 32, Borzak and Fox fell to Maddie Lipp and Christine Zordani of Lake Forest, 6-2, 6-0. They play in the consolation round Friday.

In singles, Ariel Lozovsky upended Shanaz Danesdhoost of Carbondale, 6-1, 6-3 moving on to the next round in the consolation bracket Friday.

(Earlier at 1:45 p.m.) Ariel Lozovsky picked up a point for the Deerfield High School tennis team today in the State Tournament in Buffalo Grove.

Lozovsky defeated Laura Anderson of Chicago’s University High, 6-3, 6-4, in her first consolation round match and will now face Shanaz Danesdhoost of Carbondale next.

Mindy Barovsky, who took her opening match, became ill forcing her to default her second round contest and forfeit in her consolation opener. She is now out of the tourney.

(Earlier at Noon)Mindy Barovsky along with the Deerfield High School doubles team of Jenna Borzak and Jorie Fox won their opening round matches today in the Illinois High School Association Girls’ State Tennis Tournament in Buffalo Grove.

Barovsky stopped Caitlin McCarthy of Woodlands in Lake Forest, 7-5, 6-1, to move into the second round.

Borzak and Fox breezed by Meghan Mediratta and Tiffany Ding of Rockford Auburn, 6-0, 6-2, to move into the second round against Andrea Goyao and Megan Conlin of Rosary High School in Aurora.

The Warriors other singles entry, Ariel Lozovsky, dropped her opening match to Caroline Maltby of Glenbard West, 6-4, 6-0, and will play in the consolation round later today.
