Tennis 

April 12 

The Final Score:        Deerfield 4, Fremd 3, Stevenson 5, Deerfield 2, Lake Forest 4, Deerfield 3 

Warriors Star Performer:    won a pair of matches at No. 1 singles against Lake Forest and Stevenson before teaming with Jeremy Jacobson to win his No. 1 doubles match against Fremd.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       took the No. 1 singles match against Fremd and joined Andrew Pekin to win the No. 1 doubles event against Lake Forest. The other double winner for Deerfield was the No. 2 doubles team of George Vanderkloot and Harrison Crist notching victories against Lake Forest and Stevenson. Other winners were the tandems of Nate Klein and Lee Ratner along with the duo of Jared Gupta and Harry Skaletsky with doubles victories over Fremd.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors travel to New Trier at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. 

The Bottom Line:      When Deerfield battles the Trevians Tuesday it will pit the state’s top two teams from a year ago. 

Gymnastics 

April 12 

The Final Score:        Deerfield scored 120.1 points to finish sixth out of 10 teams at the York Invitational. 

Warriors Star Performer:    Brian Spinello placed third in floor exercise with a 9.1.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Doran Zimmerman grabbed fifth in floor exercise with an 8.9 while Nate Weil was sixth on the pommel horse with a 7.2 and Alex Cimaglia’s 8.0 earned seventh on the parallel bars.

Who’s Next:   The Warrior-Giants entertain Glenbrook South at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Highland Park gym. 

The Bottom Line:      Coach Doug Foerch was pleased with some of what the Warrior Giants did at York. “We saw some real bright spots, but also had some rough events we need to work on,” he said. Deerfield-Highland Park was without the services of Cody Shepard and Lucas Beslow.
