Caruso Promotes 167 Students to High School

Caruso Middle School class of 2013 sent off to high school in annual promotion ceremony.

Caruso Middle School sent its 167 eighth graders off to high school Tuesday in the school’s annual promotion ceremony in the Deerfield High School auditorium.

After the students entered the auditorium in their blue gowns and were welcomed by Deerfield Public Schools District 109 Superintendent Renee Goier, Rachel Rappaport gave the ceremonial address.

After Rappaport’s speech, Caruso Principal Brian Bullis presented the class to those in attendance and they received their diplomas from District 109 Board of Education members Katie Bittner and Sari Montgomery. Florin Mitran accepted the class on behalf of Deerfield High School.

Though not announced at the ceremony, six Caruso students have been honored for achievement. Caitlyn Anonuevo and Matthew Swill received the American Legion Award while Eleanor Wilson and Michael Hinker earned the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizenship Award.

The winner of the Deerfield Education Foundation scholarship was Samuel Aronson and the Brian Pichietti Award recipient was Levi Goldstein.
