Caruso Takes First in Sectional Tournament

Fifteen District 109 wrestlers head to state tournament in DeKalb.

The Caruso Blue Jays have something to crow about, scoring 218 points to capture first place in Saturday’s IESA Wrestling Sectional Championships in Deerfield.

Vernon Hills Hawthorne North came in second with 167 points.

Five Blue Jays and Shepard Spartans earned first place wins in their respective weight classes. In all 15 boys from both schools will go out west to the state tournament.

The Bottom Line: The Blue Jays and Spartans head to State finals this Friday and Saturday at the Convocation Center on the campus at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb.
