Deerfield Grads Make Good

Two Deerfield brothers are enjoying success at their respective schools.

Jake Kaplan, a 2011 Deerfield High School graduate and University of Maryland sophomore, is president of the university's Division II Ice Hockey Club, where he plays as a starting defenseman. The UMD Terps recently competed in the American College Hockey Association, Division II, National Championship Tournament in St. Louis.

His brother, Josh Kaplan, is a 2004 DHS graduate who is currently a doctoral candidate in Behavioral Neuroscience at Oregon Health and Science University and and an instructor at Lewis and Clark College in Portland.

On March 17, he completed the Los Angeles Marathon in a personal record 2 hours and 38 minutes, finishing in 26th place overall in the field of more than 19,000 runners.
