DeLucia Two Hits Rams To Pace Warrior Win

Warriors Star Performers:  Paul DeLucia threw a complete game for the win limiting Grayslake to a pair of hits while striking out six and walking only one. Ben Browdy’s double—he was 2 – for – 4 at the plate—provided the winning run.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Brad Holway and Landon Cohen each collected a pair of hits.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors travel to Niles North at 4:45 p.m. today. 

The Bottom Line:      Deerfield snapped the Rams 15-game winning strike on the strength of DeLucia’s pitching and the bats of Browdy, Holway and Cohen. The Warriors are now 9-16 for the season. 

Volleyball 

The Final Score:        Libertyville defeated Deerfield, 25-20, 20-25, 26-24. 

Warriors Star Performers:  Adam Nadler spiked nine kills and had nine digs as well. John Harlan and Andrew Hector each had eight kills. Harlan added a pair of blocks, two aces and four digs while Hector had an ace and three digs. Scott Laner chipped in 13 assists along with an ace and three digs. Jordan Fine contributed 12 assists and nine digs.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Kenison Ready notched five kills and a block while Andrew Devendorf spiked four balls for winners along with three blocks and three digs. Ross Lehrman had an ace and 14 digs.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors entertain Niles North at 6 pm. today. 

The Bottom Line:      After winning the first set and falling in the second, the Warriors were three points from defeat trailing 22-13 when they mounted a comeback. Deerfield pulled ahead 24-23 before the Wildcats scored three straight points to end the game. “It was nice to see the guys not give up,” Coach Eugene Chang said.
