Warriors Star Performers:    Eric Porter scored 13 points, grabbed three rebounds, stole the ball three times and dished out an assist. Alexander Glantz added 10 points, six rebounds and a pair of assists.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Michael Alfieri chipped in eight points, hauled in three rebounds and helped out with three assists. Andrew Ferdman scored two points, added one rebound and passed his way to four assists. Gregory Dikopf had four rebounds and two steals.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors play Naperville Central at 7:15 p.m. today in the quarterfinals of the Wheeling Hardwood Classic. 

The Bottom Line:     With the game tied at 43 as the clock ticked to 0, Porter had a clear look at a three-point shot to win the game for Deerfield at the buzzer, according to Coach Dan McKendrick. The Warriors took a 10-7 lead at the end of the first quarter before Prospect went on a 17-11 run in the second period to go ahead, 24-21, at halftime. Deerfield kept chipping away at the Prospect lead until it won the game in the final seconds. The Warriors are now 6-5 for the season. 

Girls’ Basketball

The Final Score:          Warren 38, Deerfield 34

Warriors Star Performer:    Margot Sylvan scored 18 points along with two rebounds and a steal.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Haley Greer added six points, two steals, a pair of assists and a rebound while Liz Pavalon chipped in with four points, five rebounds and an assist. Emelia Karkazis helped out with three points, nine rebounds and two steals.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors compete against Carmel at 6 p.m. today in the Warren Blue Devil Classic in Gurnee. 

The Bottom Line:      The game remained close throughout as the teams ended the first quarter in an 8-8 tie. Warren surged ahead at the intermission, 19-16, and built the lead by a point at the end of three periods, 25-20. The Warriors could only close the gap by a tally in the final stanza.
