DHS Student to Compete at Maccabiah Games in Israel

Deerfield High School sophomore Ellie Madenberg, who is a member of the U.S. Junior Karate team, has been selected one of 10 athletes from across the country to compete in the 19th World Maccabiah Games in Israel in July, reported the Deerfield Review.

Madenberg will be joined on the trip to Israel by four fellow athletes from North Shore Dojo in Glenview, according to the Review. She will also be working to raise $8,000 for non-profit organization Maccabi USA, which supports Jewish athletes all over the world and sponsors the U.S. team in the world games.
