DHS Swimmers Grab Third at York Meet

Powell and Brottman pace Warriors to a third place out of eighth teams at invitational.

Sept. 22

The Final Score:  1. St. Ignatius 370, 2. York 312, 3. Deerfield 221 4. Willowbrook 146, 5. Latin 99.5, 6. Crystal Lake Central 84, 7. Maine West 42.5, Hinsdale South 30. 

Warriors’ Star Performers:             Ruby Powell won the 100-yard backstroke and placed second in the 200 individual medley. Barbara Brottman grabbed third in the 500 freestyle and fourth in the 200 freestyle. Christine Stitcher was the diving champion. Powell and Brottman joined Becca Rosenberg and Lynn Mallory to take third in the 200 medley relay. In the 400 freestyle relay Powell, Brottman and Mallory swam to fourth with Lauren Kurzyldo. Kurzyldo joined Maddie Wilson, Grace Frankel and Marcy Kreda for a fifth place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Kurzyldo earned fifth in the 500 freestyle and seventh in the 200 individual medley. Wilson was eighth in the 200 freestyle and ninth in the 100 freestyle. Maya Strauss finished sixth in the diving competition. Rosenberg swam to a seventh in the 200 breaststroke with Haley Seldin ninth. Mallory was seventh in the 100 freestyle and Kreda took eighth in the 100 butterfly
