DHS Volleyball Team Dumps Zion-Benton, Gymnasts Fall

Deerfield High School volleyball team takes opener while Niles North nips gymnasts.

Volleyball 

The Final Score:        Deerfield defeated Zion-Benton, 25-15 and 25-18.

Warriors Star Performers:  John Harlan logged eight kills, three aces including nine points off his serve, four digs and a pair of blocks. Jordan Fine added 18 assists, six digs, three aces and two blocks while Jake Brody had 18 digs.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Kenison Ready notched five kills along with a block, assist and dig while Zach Hara added four kills, three digs, an ace and a block. Eric Slepian chipped in with five blocks, three kills and a dig while Eli Schmidt added two kills and a pair of blocks.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors entertain Warren at 6 p.m. April 4. 

Gymnastics 

The Final Score:        Niles North115.7, Deerfield 111.2 

Warriors Star Performers:  Brian Spinello and Jeff Spinello shared first place in the vault with a score of 8.7 each. Brian also won floor exercise (8.7) while Jeff added second on floor (8.5) and still rings (5-0).

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Alex Cimaglia was the parallel bars victor (8.0) while Nick Laporte won the still rings (5.1).

Who’s Next:   The Warriors compete in the Mundelein Invitational at 6 p.m. April 5.
