Digest: Boys’ Track Team Takes Third

Volleyball team falls to Glenbrook North.

Volleyball 

The Final Score:        Glenbrook North defeated Deerfield, 25-21, 25-16.

 Warriors Star Performers:   John Harlan logged 18 kills and six digs while Jordan Fine dished out 18 assists, five digs and an ace. 

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Jake Brody helped out with 14 digs while Zach Hara chipped in with five kills and five digs.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors compete in the Downers Grove South Invitational at 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday. 

The Bottom Line:      Deerfield is now 9-2 for the season and 3-1 in the Central Suburban League North Division. 

April 16 

Boys’ Track 

The Final Score:        Deerfield finished third out of six teams with 110.5 points at the Niles North Invitational. 

Warriors Star Performers:              Donald Middlebrook won the pole vault, Alex Gold took the 800-meter run, Dominic Dibenedetto was shot put champion and Casey Spiwak earned the discuss title. Middlebrook also helped two relay teams earn medals. He joined Brett Freedberg, Jake Balder and Sam Modro to take fourth in the 4x200 and teamed with Freedberg, Balder and Alex William for a fifth in the 4x100.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Second-place finishes went to Jordan Abosch (1,600), Patrick Johnson (discus) and Charlie Kogan (triple jump). Kogan also took fourth in the high jump while Abosch teamed with Chris Douglas, Charles Nash and Patrick Brunk for fourth in the 4x400 relay. Brunk was sixth in the 1,600. Douglas added a third in the 110 high hurdles and 300 intermediate hurdles while Johnson was sixth in the shot put. Williams was third in the long jump with Modro fourth. Matt Pigott placed fifth in the 300 hurdle and sixth in the high jump. Freedberg was fifth in the pole vault. The 4x800 relay of Max Rich, Evan Linton, Maor Kramer and Jeremy Latronica added a fifth while six place honors went to Shai Farhi in the 3,200 and Garrett Ram in the triple jump. 

Who’s Next:   The Warriors compete at the Lyons Invitational at 4:45 p.m. Friday.
