District 109 Holds Public Hearing on Tax Levy

Next real estate tax levy is one of the items on Board of Education meeting agenda Monday.

Though Deerfield Public Schools District 109’s portion of the real estate tax levy will be slightly reduced next year, there will be a public hearing on the proposed taxation plan for next year during the Board of Education meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the District office.

The Board will vote on a resolution on the estimated amount of money it intends to levy for next year’ budget.  That total will be approximately $50 less than last year for the owner of a home with an assessed value of $500,000, according to Assistant Superintendent Greg Himebaugh.

“We’ve worked really hard at the reduction of debt,” Himebaugh said. “We expect to see this (trend) continue for the next four to five years,” he added hinting the reduction will not be a one-time event.
