Gallery: Glantz Becomes DHS Deerfield Idol

Alexander Glantz won the Deerfield Idol contest Thursday but the big winner was LUNGevity, the School Chest's charity.

A talent contest is often determined by the decibel level of the applause after each entrant performs but not at Thursday’s Deerfield Idol competition won by Alexander Glantz at Deerfield High School.

Glantz did get the most votes and they were truly charitable.

As part of the School Chest which is raising money for LUNGevity through the votes did not come in the form of applause or ballot entries but in the form of money each student gives their favorite contestant. The funds go to the charity drive.

There were 23 entrants in the contest entertaining in the first round, according to faculty advisor Ryan Rockaitis. After a second elimination round raising more money, the field was whittled down to four finalists—Glantz, Jordan Abosch, a duo of Sam Schachter and Josh Joseph as well as Danielle Resnick and Alexas Plotnick singing together.
