The Bottom Line:      Deerfield’s defense did not tackle as well as it usually does, according to Coach Steve Winiecki. That lapse gave Spartan running back Grant Rushing the opportunity to rivet the Warrior defenders for 235 yards on the ground and 57 more on a pass reception while scoring four touchdowns. “That’s what happens when you don’t tackle well with a good runner,” Winiecki said.

After holding Deerfield on the game’s first possession, Glenbrook North scored once in the first quarter and three more times in the second to take a 28-7 halftime lead. Though the Spartans’ pace slowed in the second half, the Warriors were unable to pick up the tempo enough to get back in the contest.
