Kipling Educator Becomes Teacher of Year

Kipling Elementary School art teacher Kathi Hillyer was named Illinois’s art educator of the year by her peers, the Illinois Art Education Association (IAEA), according to information contained on the Deerfield Public Schools District 109 website.

“This award recognizes the exemplary contributions, service and achievements of one outstanding IAEA member annually,” the association said in a news release, according to information on the District website.

Hillyer was chosen for her contributions throughout northeastern Illinois as well as her “outstanding commitment to visual art education,” according to the website.
