New Shepard, Kipling Principals Named
Both men were promoted from assistant principal positions within the district.
The following is from District 109 regarding the contracts for the principals for Shepard Middle School and Kipling Elementary School:
Superintendent Dr. Mike Lubelfeld explained the extensive review and interview process to find instructional leaders for Shepard and Kipling.
Out of more than 160 applicants, Dr. Lubelfeld and Executive Director for Human Resources Dale Fisher conducted phone interviews to screen approximately 30 candidates with outstanding credentials. The executive leadership team then interviewed about 15 candidates in person; input teams of administrators, teachers and staff, and parents interviewed the five top candidates for each position.
John Filippi, currently assistant principal at Caruso Middle School, will be the new Shepard principal. Anthony McConnell, assistant principal at Walden Elementary School, will be the new Kipling principal. Both contracts begin on July 1, 2014.
