Olympian Alumna Makes DHS Homecoming Appearance

Christina Loukas joins Warrior fall sports teams at pep rally Friday.

A packed Exhibition Gym exploded with cheers Friday afternoon as Deerfield High School’s fall athletic teams entered the annual homecoming pep rally as some of the loudest applause were reserved for one of the Warriors’ most accomplished alumna.

Two time Olympic diver Christina Loukas returned wearing an official shirt from the London Games to participate in the rally. She was lauded by Diving Coach Doug Foerch for the three state championships she won while at the school as well as her career since then.

“It was awesome to be back at Deerfield and see everyone,” Loukas said. “I really liked high school.” She also flipped the coin before the start of the Warriors football game Friday against Maine West and stayed around visiting through the contest.

Loukas helped Activities Director Brian Verisario judge games between members of the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes and stayed for all the festivities.
