Olympic Alumna and Football Victory Top DHS Homecoming Events

From pep rallies to a dance and other student organized activities, Deerfield High School celebrated Homecoming Friday and Saturday.

Patch has captured highlights from the weekend in pictures from the time the crowds were filling up the Exhibition Gym for Friday’s pep rally through the football victory over Maine West.

After students and community members filled the gym for Friday’s pep rally, all fall athletic teams ran into the gym as they were announced. After members of the football team completed that part of the event, a solitary familiar looking young woman appeared at the entrance of the gym flanked by a column of cheerleaders.

“USA, USA,” the crowd shouted a 2004 graduate and two-time Olympic diver Christina Loukas entered the gym. As she walked in, Student Activities Director Brian Verisario announced her presence and Diving Coach Doug Forech described her accomplishments. The cheers grew louder.

Students cheered and played good natured games. Later that day, the Warriors defeated Maine West, 35-7, as Loukas tossed the coin before the game. The dance was Saturday.
