Patch Poll: Time to End the 109 Impasse?

on the ongoing talks as teachers demonstrate outside, Patch’s latest unscientific poll will gauge reader patience with the progress of the deliberations. The next Board is at 7 p.m. April 16.

Readers can urge the Board and the union to wrap up the negotiations at Thursday’s session or implore them to take all the time they need. Voting remains open until 5 p.m. Wednesday. Patch will publish the results Thursday morning before the DEA and District talk again.

Meanwhile, based on statements made Friday to Patch by union President Dennis Jensen, there can be no strike before April 23.

Though the teachers voted to authorize their union representatives to  and declared an , they must issue a notice of intent to strike with the Board and then wait 10 days before there can be a work stoppage.

“We haven't filed it (the notice of intent to strike) with the Board yet and have no intention of doing so before the end of Thursday's session,” Jensen said to Patch Friday. “We certainly hope that step will be unnecessary.”
