It’s estimated a whopping 400 students showed up for the prom after-party. That's almost double the amount then the previous year.
Teens were bused to the following the prom in downtown Chicago Saturday night where they got to ditch their formal wear and party all night. Literally, the fiesta didn’t conclude until 3:30 a.m.
had been planning the event for months and were ecstatic by the massive turnout, which is designed to keep kids safe on prom night.

“We’re just trying to make a culture shift with the parents. Instead of driving all over at midnight going to lake houses or someone’s basement to get drunk,” said Beth Greenberg, a Deerfield mom who helped plan the event.
Event co-chair Jacki Parmacek and other parents volunteering for the evening believe that the after-party is a much safer, more inclusive and more fun than what they had in their era. Even the 2011 graduates agreed.

“I think it makes a lot more sense to come. We would have just been sitting at home otherwise,” said Vasiliki Balkanas, DHS senior.
“My group, we were just trying to figure out what we were going to do and figured we were going to be worn out,” said Lisa Crain, DHS senior, who had just finished competing against Balkanas in what they called the “super-awesome-rug-burn-inducing-bungie-race” – one of the giant, inflatable games.
“There was never even an option. We were always going to come,” said Justin Gersowski, DHS senior. “I’m really glad everyone came.”
Patch was there of course too and caught students enjoying everything from a poker table, inflatable obstacle course, DJ, sports tournament and some sweet treats in the Sach’s café.
To top the night off, students were sent home with goodie bags and some major prizes like two flat-screen TV’s.
