School Chest Raises $97,790.81 for GLASA

Annual Deerfield High School student led charity drive helps Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association.

After two weeks of active fundraising at school and throughout the community, the annual Deerfield High School School Chest Drive broadcast over WDHS today $97,790.81 was raised to benefit Lake Forest based Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA).

Public events included the Race for Change, the annual gala, Deerfield Idol, Mr. DHS, a Mah Jong night and different student oriented events throughout each school day.

The students running the event also had the opportunity to work directly with GLASA. “It was amazing to see where out money was going,” Co-Chair Hannah Brockstein said. Sam Bricker, the other co-chair, was pleased with the effort.

“It was good to see all of our hard work (pay off) not just for everyone at school but for everyone who is part of GLASA,” Bricker said.

For anyone who did not donate, it is not too late. More information is available on the School Chest Facebook page and online donations are still welcome, according to Bricker. Click here.
