Shepard Graduates Its 50th Class Tuesday

Middle school will promote 171 students to high school.

Though this annual event is commonly called a graduation from eighth grade it is actually a promotion to high school, according to Communication Director Cathy Kedjidjian.

The entire school year has been a celebratory one for Shepard to commemorate the 50th year since its founding. It started with featuring a student made video and culminated with an .

After the students march into the Deerfield High School auditorium, Devin Pohn will deliver an address as the featured speaker. Principal Michael Shapiro will make remarks as well.

Deerfield faculty members Michelle Brownell and David Hirsch will accept the promoted class into the high school. The newly minted freshmen will receive diplomas from a member or members of the District 109 School Board before they march out of the auditorium.
