Deerfield High School gymnastics team takes eighth at Lake County Meet while swimmers place sixth at Titan Relays

Warriors’ Star Performer:   Christine Stitcher placed 11th in the all around competition (36.28) including seventh on the balance beam (9.325), eighth on the uneven parallel bars and 12th in floor exercise (9.3).

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Ally Perbohner finished 20th in the all around (33.85) on the strength of 22nd place finishes on the beam (8.2) and floor (8.6) as well as 23rd in vault (8.5) and 26th on the bars (8.05). Other strong performances came from Leslie Ross (21st, vault, 8.55) and Nikki Katz (24th, floor, 8.5).

Who’s Next:   The Warriors travel to Maine West at 5:45 p.m. Thursday. 

Swimming

The Final Score:        1. Glenbrook South 252, 2. Warren 232, 3. Glenbrook North, Lincoln West 179, 5. Fremd 172, 6. Deerfield 150, 7. Niles West 148, 8. St. Patrick’s 138.

Warriors’ Star Performers:   The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Alex Howard, Joey Barr, Danny Booker and Alec Barry finished fourth (3:26.25) as did the 200 butterfly relay squad of Patrick Abrahams, Nate Block, Daniel Perlovsky and Ryan Smith (1:44.85).

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       The quartet of Block, Benji Perez, Evan Horwitz and Steven Warren finished sixth in the 200 medley relay (1:5123). Solid individual finishes were recorded by Howard (seventh, 50 freestyle, 23.21) and Barry (10th, 50 freestyle, 23.46).

Who’s Next:   The Warriors travel to Highland Park at 5 p.m. Friday. 

Jan. 11

The Final Score:        Niles North 110, Deerfield 73

Warriors’ Star Performers:             Sean Scarry took the diving competition (227) and Howard won the 100 freestyle (50.5) while Smith captured the 100 butterfly (56.49). Howard also finished second in the 50 freestyle (23.06) while Smith was runner up in the 100 backstroke (59.73). Smith and Howard teamed with Booker and Barry to place second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:26.33). In the 200 freestyle relay, the quartet of Barry, Booker, Howard and Joey Barr ended up second (1:33.16)

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Barr was second in the 200 freestyle (1:56.14) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:18.02). Heath Ogawa finished second in diving (180.55) with Christian Vadevoulis third (127.45). Perez was third in the 100 backstroke (1:02.59).
