Village, School Board Candidates Debate Thursday

League of Women Voters schedules forum for local races.

Candidates for the Deerfield Village Board of Trustees and the Deerfield Public School District 109 Board of Education will debate at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Patty Turner Center in a forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters.

Candidates will have an opportunity to outline their positions on the issues and answer questions submitted by the audience and asked through a moderator.

Candidates for the three openings on the Board of Trustees are Alan Farkas, Jerry Kane, Robert Nadler, Mary Oppenheim and Barbara Struthers.

Struthers, Oppenheim and Farkas are seeking reelection. A former Board member, Kane is after a return to the position while Nadler, a member of the Plan Commission, is looking for a first term.

Four seats are available on the District 109 Board. The five people who want to fill them are Katie Bittner, Scott Kluge, Joel Kogen, Sari Montgomery and Ron Worth.

Worth is the only incumbent running for another term. Incumbents Ellen London, Mike Rosenbaum and Debbie Muller are not seeking reelection.

Candidates for the three open seats on the Township High School District 113 Board of Education will debate at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Highland Park Country Club in a forum also sponsored by the League of Women Voters.

The candidates are Annette Lidawer, Julie Gordon, Mark Mulert, David Greenberg, and Stacey Meyer. Lidawer is seeking a second term.
