Volleyball Team Wins, Boys’ Track Squad Takes 6th

Frosh-soph tracksters take Bartlett Title.

Volleyball 

The Final Score:        Deerfield defeated Maine East, 25-21 and 25-14.

Warriors Star Performers:   Zach Hara recorded 10 kills, two digs and a block. Jordan Fine passed out 21 assists along with two digs and a pair of kills. 

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       John Harlan had six kills and four digs while Kenison Ready added three kills and a dig.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors travel to Glenbrook North at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The Bottom Line:     Deerfield is 9-1 for the season and 3-0 in the Central Suburban League North Division. 

April 13 

Boys’ Track 

The Final Score:        Deerfield finished sixth out of 15 teams with 56 points at the Bartlett Invitational.

 

Warriors Star Performers:              Alex Gold won the 1,600-meter run and teamed with Shai Farhi, Jordan Abosch and Patrick Brunk to take second in the 4x800 relay. The 4x200 relay quartet of Sam Rock, Jacob Balder, Michael Lee and Sam Modro also took second. Donald Middlebrook finished second in the pole vault, third in the 400 and fourth in the 200.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Brett Freedberg grabbed third in the pole vault and sixth in the 200 before teaming with Balder, Middlebrook and Connor Oriot for a sixth in the 4x100 relay. Dominick Dibenedetto placed fifth in the shot put and Oriot did the same in the long jump.

 

Who’s Next:   The Warriors compete in the Niles North Invitational at 4:30 p.m. today.

 

The Bottom Line:      Deerfield was 16 points out of second place. “The varsity beat their seeded points by 26,” Coach Jeremy Kauffman said. “They stepped up big in every event.” The frosh-soph team won their competition taking first out of the 15 teams.
