Wrestlers win three of four duals at Waubonsie Valley despite missing five starters.

Warriors Star Performer:    scored 19 points, hauled down four rebounds and dished out three assists. added 16 points while grabbing nine rebounds and stealing the ball three times.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       chipped in eight points and six rebounds while Andrew Ferdman made five passes for assists along with his six points. Andrew Glantz also hit for six tallies along with three boards and a pair of assists.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors entertain Niles North at 7:30 p.m. Friday in a Central Suburban League North Division contest.

 

The Bottom Line:      A 22-5 fourth quarter surge made the difference for the Warriors. Trailing 47-45 at the end of the third period, Deerfield took control of the game in the final period to secure the win. The Warriors needed a first half surge as well. They trailed 17-11 at the end of the first quarter but outpointed Wheeling 21-16 in the second period to pull within a point at intermission. Deerfield is now 6-8 for the season.

The Final Score:        Deerfield 33, Crystal Lake Central 28; Deerfield 49, Lake Park 21; Deerfield 35, Lemont 29; Waubonsie Valley 36, Deerfield 33. 

Warriors Star Performer:    was the top performer at 145 defeating Blake Santi of Lake Park, the top ranked wrestler in Illinois at 138. 

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Jim Kirby toppled John Tomala of Lemont, the state’s eighth rated wrestler, 13-12.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors travel to Maine West at 6 p.m. Thursday for a dual meet. 

The Bottom Line:      In each of their four dual meets Saturday at Waubonsdie Valley, the Warriors had between three and five starters unable to wrestle making it a challenging outing.
