Warrior Softball Team Tops Maine East

Soccer squad ties Glenbrook North. Badminton troupe falls to New Trier.

Warriors Star Performers:  Zoey Fishman limited Maine East to one hit getting credit for the victory while collecting two hits in three trips to the plate. Dana Mercola helped power the offense going 3 – for – 4 with a pair of doubles.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Also providing offense were Emily Shanker with two hits including a double, Sami Horwitz rapped out three hits in five at bats, Allegra Hoffman went 2 – for – 3 and Hannah Odzer had a two hits in four trips to the plate. Nicki Chamberlain-Simon, Megan Buranosky and Sarah Spiro also had hits.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors travel to Highland Park at 4:45 Thursday to renew their District 113 rivalry. 

Soccer 

The Final Score:        Deerfield 2, Glenbrook North 2.

Warriors Star Performers:  Hannah Rosin and Logan Just scored Deerfield’s goals.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Samara Haas had an assist and Amanda Kellow’s defense preserved the tie, according to Coach Rich Grady.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors travel to Maine South at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Bottom Line:      Deerfield grabbed the lead, 1-0, on Rosin’s goal after Leah Heller and Emily Kellow advanced the ball to help set up Rosin’s penalty shot. After the Spartans tied the game in the 20th minute, Just took a pass from Haas and gave the Warriors the lead again a minute later, 2-1. After Glenbrook North tied the game with 16 minutes remaining, Amanda Kellow’s defense kept the Spartans off the scoreboard the rest of the way to preserve the tie, according to Grady. Deerfield is 1-0-1 in Central Suburban League North Division play.

Badminton 

The Final Score:        New Trier 15, Deerfield 3.

Warriors Star Performers:  Erica Joseph (No. 4 singles), Katie Frankel (No. 5 singles) and Zoe Sinton (No. 7 singles) posted wins for Deerfield.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors travel to Glenbrook North at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
