Warriors Star Performers:  Jared Rubin blasted three home runs in four trips to the plate including a grand slam and eight RBI. Xander Howrtiz held the Giants to seven scattered hits for his third victory of the season while helping himself with two hits.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Zack Wade, Alex Karkazis and Andrew Fisher each had a pair of hits.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors host Highland Park in a return engagement at 4:45 p.m. today. 

The Bottom Line:      With the game tied, 2-2, in the third inning, Rubin had his first blast, a three-run shot, to put Deerfield ahead, 5-2. The Warriors never looked back extending their record to 9-5 and 2-2 in the Central Suburban League North Division.

Soccer 

The Final Score:        Deerfield 6, Maine East 0 

Warriors Star Performers:   Samara Haas and Emily Kellow each had two goals and an assist. 

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Claire Mulert and Trishie Schweinfurth each scored a goal while Amanda Imyak helped out with a pair of assists. Margot Sylvan, Logan Just and Rachel Magnus also had assists. Sarah Ginn and Sam Soloway shared goaltending duties for another Deerfield shutout. 

Who’s Next:   The Warriors travel to Highland Park at 6 p.m. Tuesday. 

The Bottom Line:      A three goal outburst in the in a five-minute span in the second half turned a 1-0 Deerfield lead into a 4-0 edge. Kellow’s second goal was the final one in the flurry on a record setting assist from Haas. Haas’s pass to Kellow was the 31st her Warrior career assist.
