Meet’s Star Performers:       (Deerfield) scored 36 individual points to earn top honors by 9.5 tallies over the next competitor. He won the 200-meter dash and the 110 high hurdles while taking second in the long jump and triple jump. Niles North won three of four relays (4x100, 4x200 and 4x800). Deerfield won the 4x400.

Other Notable Performances:          Other champions included John Bricker (Highland Park) in the high jump, Ethan Valazquez (Niles North) in the pole vault, Oshayne Brown (Niles North) in the 100, Alex Kasemir (Highland Park) in the 400, Aron Sebhat (Niles North) in the 800, Micah Beiler (Niles North) in the 1,600 and 3,200 along with Adam Rabushka (Deerfield) in the 300 hurdles.

Who’s Next:   Deerfield, Niles North, Highland Park and Glenbrook North all compete at 2 p.m. in the Loyola Sectional at Wilmette for the right to go to the State Meet.

The Bottom Line:      Niles North held a one point lead heading into the meet’s final event, the 4x400 relay. The Warrior quartet of Luke Williams, Tristan Nunez, Donald Middlebrook and Rabushka beat the Viking team of Stephen Rhoney, Radean Pou, Randy Mortell and Sebhat by three seconds to win the league title by a single point.
