Warriors Place 2nd in CSL Swim Meet

Powell and Brottman and Stitcher set records to lead Deerfield High School swim team in league meet.

 The Final Score:  1. Glenbrook North 418, 2. Deerfield 357, 3. Highland Park 280, 4. Niles North 206, 5. Maine West 85, 6. Maine East 39.

 Warriors’ Star Performers:              set records and won five events between them.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Becca Rosenberg, Mallory Lynn, Lauren Kruzydlo, Marcy Kreda, Maddie Wilson and Grace Frankel all earned second or third place honors.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors compete in the Glenbrook South Sectional at 1 p.m. Saturday in Glenview.

 The Bottom Line:      Brottman set pool records on her way to winning the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.161) and 500 freestyle (5:12.351). Stitcher’s 496.851-point diving performance was good for a pool record and first place medal. Powell took the 100 backstroke (54.21) in pool record time and was also victorious in the 100 freestyle. Powell and Brottman teamed with Rosenberg and Lynn to finish second in the 200 medley relay. Lynn, Powell and Brottman joined Kruzydlo to grab second-place honors in the 400 freestyle relay.

Kruzydlo swam to third in the 500 freestyle, took fourth in the 200 freestyle and teamed with Kreda, Wilson and Frankel for third in the 200 freestyle relay. Lynn took home a third place medal in the 100 freestyle and was fourth in the 50 freestyle. Kreda powered her way to fifth in the 100 butterfly while Wilson did the same in the 100 backstroke.

Steve Thank you for the great piece on our varsity swimmers. I would also like to share that our JV team won their CSL Meet the night before, Nov 2nd – taking first in 8 out 10 events. Congratulations on wins from: Jen Lubelchek, Nicole Mejorada, Cami Johnson, Fiona Reid, Abby Gunther, Amanda Barr, Sarah Soren, Sara Glickman, Courtney Weaver, Taylor Melichiorre, and Aana Tsakiris.
