Warriors Top Maine West in CSL Soccer Opener

Who’s Next:   The Warriors play at 4:45 p.m. today at Evanston. 

The Bottom Line:      Mulert put the Warriors on the board in their Central Suburban League North Division opener less than two minutes into the game. After Maine West tied the game, 1-1, later in the first half, Schweinfurth put Deerfield on top again, 2-1, for good. The Warriors were ahead 4-1 before Maine West added its final score. Solid defensive play was provided by Emily Montgomery, Kerry Glass, Claire Mulert, Savannah Stanaszek and Maddy Otto, according to Coach Rich Grady. Deerfield is 3-1-3 for the season. 

Baseball 

The Final Score:        Buffalo Grove 3, Deerfield 2 (8 innings) 

Warriors Star Performer:    threw a complete game allowing only four hits while fanning five batters.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Jared Rubin and Ethan Cohen drove in Deerfield’s two runs. Rubin was 2 – for – 4 at the plate while Cohen’s run producing hit was a double

Who’s Next:   The Warriors travel to Wauconda at 4:45 p.m. today. 

The Bottom Line:      Deerfield pushed the Bison into extra innings before a base hit in the bottom of the eighth ended the game. Deerfield fell to 2-6 for the season.
