Tennis team finishes third at eight-team invitational while Badminton squad blanks Waukegan.

Warriors Star Performer:    Bailey Bradford had five saves in a shut-out effort.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors play in the Pepsi Showdown Thursday with the time and opponent still to be determined. 

The Bottom Line:      Deerfield secured the victory with two minutes to play when Guagliardo fitted a pass to Sylvan who scored the game winner. The Warriors outshot the Bengals, 28-6, to improve their record to 6-2 for the season. 

Badminton 

The Final Score:        Deerfield 18, Waukegan 0 

Who’s Next:   The Warriors travel to Glenbrook South at 4:30 p.m. today.

Tennis 

The Final Score:        Deerfield 3, Barrington 2 (quarterfinals); New Trier 3, Deerfield 2 (semifinals), Deerfield 4 Downers Grove South 1 (third place match). 

Warriors Star Performers:              Jack Kasbeer won all three No. 1 singles matches while Toby Ma won both his No. 2 singles matches.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Chris Casati added a singles victory and teamed with Sam Sylvan for a doubles win. The tandems of Harrison Crist and Noah Rosenblat plus George Vanderkloot and Andrew Pekin each added a win. 

Who’s Next:   The Warriors entertain Fremd, Stevenson and Lake Forest in a Quadrangular at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. 

The Bottom Line:      Deerfield upended Barrington in its quarterfinal match as a tiebreaker victory by Crist and Rosenblat at No. 1 doubles was the key to advancing to the semifinals against New Trier, where the Warriors fell, 3-2. In the third-place match, Deerfield recorded four victories to secure its position.
