Watts Hits Half Court Shot at Buzzer

Warriors fall to Niles North. Stitcher places 26th in overall competition at State Meet.

Boys’ Basketball

The Final Score:        Niles North 55, Deerfield 51

Warriors Star Performer:    Mack Watts scored 22 points, including six from three point range, as well as four rebounds, a pair of steals and an assist. He also made a half court shot at the final buzzer.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Michael Alfieri added 13 tallies and brought down nine rebounds. Alexander Glantz chipped in 10 points and dished out three assists.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors entertain Lakes at 5:30 p.m. today. 

The Bottom Line:      Watts’ heroics at the end were not enough for the Warriors. Deerfield led at the intermission, 26-21, but fell behind by two points at the end of three periods, 35-33. Deerfield finished the Central Suburban League North season with a 4-6 record and is 9-14 overall for the year. 

Gymnastics

Feb. 17 

Warriors Top Performer:    Christine Stitcher finished 26th in the all around competition at the State Gymnastics Meet with a score of 35.25.

Who’s Next:   The gymnastics season is over. Stitcher now joins the track team as a pole vaulter.

The Bottom Line:      Stitcher’s vault performance of 9.375 was her top event. She scored 9.175 on floor exercise, 8.425 on uneven parallel bars and 8.575 on the balance beam.
