Wells Fargo Buys DHS Student Art to Display

The company bought 24 student pieces.

The following is from Deerfield High School:

Three local Wells Fargo properties are now home to two dozen pieces by some amazing local artists: students at Deerfield High School.

Several months ago Wells Fargo contacted the DHS Art Department seeking artwork for properties along Waukegan Road in Bannockburn. The company purchased 12 previously created pieces of student artwork, and provided canvas, paint and other supplies to create 12 additional pieces. Art 1/Intro to Art students worked in groups to create these larger works, and all of the pieces were framed and put on display last month.

“Partnering with Wells Fargo on the abstract art project was a great experience. Students whose original artworks were selected gained a lot of confidence in their own abilities. It was also an enriching experience for the students to work together on the 12 larger commissioned canvases,” said art teacher Katherine O’Truk. “The class learned about applications of art in the real world and about the importance of meeting a client's demands. I think, because of this experience, many students are starting to more seriously consider art as a part of their future. I am so grateful to Wells Fargo for presenting us with such a cool opportunity!”
