Sheyman Wins Tenth Dems Straw Poll in Landslide

With 73 percent of the vote, Sheyman campaign demonstrates grassroots power and widespread support two weeks before election

Congressional candidate Ilya Sheyman won the Illinois Tenth District Democrats Straw Poll on Sunday afternoon with an overwhelming 73 percent of the vote, in a show of organizing strength and widespread support with just over two weeks before the primary election.

The complete results of the Tenth District Democrats straw poll were:

Ilya Sheyman - 73%

John Tree - 20%

Brad Schneider - 6%

Vivek Bavda - 1%

“This victory shows, once again, that our people-powered campaign has built a deep base of support across the district and is ready to get out the vote to send a proven progressive to Congress to fight for middle class families,” said Sheyman, the former national Mobilization Director at progressive advocacy group MoveOn.org,

The victory for Sheyman comes on the heels of the announcement that his campaign completed its best fundraising period to date, and that he’d earned endorsements from State Representatives Robyn Gabel and Rita Mayfield.
