Bannockburn Heinen’s Opening Aug. 13

It will be the third of the Ohio-based grocery stores in Illinois.

Heinen’s Grocery Store in Bannockburn will open Aug. 13, according to a company spokeswoman.

The Bannockburn Green store is taking over a 62,000-square-foot former Dominick’s. It will be the third in the area. The Ohio-based chain opened a Barrington store in 2012 and one in Glenview in May.

Earlier reports said the store was shooting for an opening in late July, but Heinen’s Katheryn Falls said that was never the goal and that the Aug. 13 opening has always been the company’s plan. Doors will open at 10 a.m.

Tom and Jeff Heinen will be on hand along with officials from Bannockburn for a ribbon cutting, Falls said. Other than that, the store likes to keep its grand openings simple. But with different food tastings in the store regularly, “there’s a festive atmosphere all the time,” Falls said.

She said the company does not have an exact opening date yet for the Lake Bluff store, but “is optimistic that it will be in the fall of this year.”
