52 Deerfield Runners Finish Chicago Marathon

Nate McPherson and Scott Friedlander place in top 1,000 out of 37,454 runners.

Deerfield runners Nate McPherson and Scott Friedlander were among the top 1,000 finishers in today’s Bank of America Chicago Marathon as 52 people from the Village finished the race, according to the official marathon website.

McPherson completed the 26 mile, 385 yard-course through downtown Chicago and the city’s neighborhoods in 361st place with a time 2:50.35. Friedlander placed 514th in 2:54.28. In all, 37,454 competitors accomplished the test. Their pace was just over 6:30 per mile.

Friedlander, who was 61st in among 20 to 24-year-old men, was one of five Deerfield athletes to finish among the top 100 spots in their age group. Amanda Lee ended up 34th in the 20-24 female bracket, Katherine Rosen ran 72nd in the 25-29 women’s group, Jamie Kaplan grabbed 84th (women, 20-24) and Susan Beyer took 87th (women, 45-49).

Deerfield High School graduate and Portland, OR, resident Josh Kaplan completed the distance in 2:43.38 to place 216th in the race as well as 74th in the men's 25-29 age group.

Other Deerfield finishers were David Spak, Chris Schlax, Kousik Kerishnan, Craig Wolf, Luo Yijing, Evan Dreifuss, Ken Soren, Twan Van Gool, Jodi Simon, Marni Noeh, Mimi Noonan, Trisha Palzet, Neil Burmeister, Jorge Balestra, Marc Miller and Erick Bertelsen.

More finishers from Deerfield were Jennifer Goldstone, David Palzet, Todd Janower, Andrew Fersten, Rob Rodriguez, Michael Lee, Albert Flores, Heidi Golden, Lisa Weiner, Deanne Cooper, Jae Ryou, Robert Cooper, David Anderson and Denise Lovejoy.

Additional Deerfield finishes were Cindy Rangel, Bill Hansen, Fernando Cruz, Dima Sebastian-Dragan, Michael Irgang, Bori Burakovski, Susan Miller, Julie Carson, Frans Von Zon, Scott Brown, Sara Timko, Mitch Robbins, Harvey Helfer, Joyce Voll and Ron Rabinowitz.
