Cubs, Red Sox Claim DYBA Championships

The Red Sox earned the Pony League Championship, while the Cubs won the title in the Bronco League Monday night at Jewett Park.

The Cubs broke the billy-goat curse Monday night and defeated the Phillies 11-10 in the Bronco League Championship Game at Jewett Park. The Cubs took an 11 to 4 lead into the bottom of the 6th inning (in a 6 inning game) only to have the Phillies fight and claw their way back within one run of tying the game and sending it into extra innings.

The Cubs needed every run they had earned. The tying run was on third with two outs and pitcher Jimmy Yanow was able to knock down a line drive that was heading up the middle and would have brought in the tying run. Yanow threw the batter out at first for the win.
