Deerfield's Christine Stitcher Advances to Gymnastics State Finals

Stitcher qualified in three events. Make sure you read to the bottom of the article, where she poses a special question to a fellow Warrior.

Deerfield High School gymnast Christine Stitcher is heading to the state finals.

Stitcher qualified at Thursday's section meet to advance on the vault and bars, as well as in the all-around competition, according to Warriors Coach Carol Myers. This is her third trip to the state finals.

"Christine struggled in the first half of the meet, falling off the beam and some minor mishaps on floor, but really came through on vault and bars," Myers said.

Myers pointed out some other notable performances.

"Leslie Ross hit her season high of 8.225 on bars," Myers said. "And Ally Perbohner participated in all four events giving her tremendous experience to help her lead the team next year when Christine is gone. Freshman Emily Berlin, unfortunately could not perform on beam because she sprained her MCL during regional floor."

The finals take place next weekend at Palatine High School.

Christine had a request of Deerfield Patch, which we were happy to oblige, and asked that we include this question at the end of the story:

"Ben Weiss, will you go to turnabout with Christine?"
