DYBA (Deerfield Youth Baseball and Softball Association) is very pleased to announce that Dan Mayer has been selected as one of the 50 national finalists for the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) Double-Goal Coach Award.

Since its 1998, Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) has reached youth and high school sport leaders, coaches, athletes, parents and officials through live workshops, online courses, published books and articles, and a series of alliances with nationally-recognized coaches, athletes, academicians, businesses and national youth sports organizations.

Coach Mayer is most deserving of this nomination. He has a great deal of respect for the game of baseball and for the players he coaches each season. Dan is more than a baseball coach; he is a mentor who looks to teach his players life lessons they will take with them long after their days on the field have ended”, stated Adam Gold Co-Director of Travel Baseball (DYBA).

The 50 finalists embody the Double-Goal Coach model of striving to win, while also pursuing the more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports to develop "Better Athletes, Better People."

PCA will announce the 20 award winners on March 19 and honor them with a trophy, $250 and inclusion in their website, Momentum e-newsletter and media campaigns.

This is a well deserved honor. Coach Mayer is the best coach I have seen 1st hand in any sport at any level. I have two sons who played baseball under Coach Mayer for two years each and are better people (and players) because of it. Coach Mayer shows as much respect to his players as he expects from them. Well said Mark....My son played for Coach Mayer too and as I tell everyone that talks to me about baseball in Deerfield and at the High School...Dan is without a doubt the BEST coach I have ever seen.- again at any level and ANY sport! He not only teaches the game so these kids can compete to the best of their ability, he is a great role model and someone whom I'm proud to say coached my son. Good luck Dan!

Coach Mayer is incredibly deserving of this award. He is a truly dedicated coach and teacher. He builds winning baseball teams, but more importantly, his players consistently display great sportsmanship, superior effort and respect for the game. That's no accident.
